Cat and Dog Clinic of Pensacola is a full service surgical facility. Most surgeries are performed using inhalant gas anesthesia. We use sterile technique and your pet is continuously monitored using EKG and respiratory monitors. A Veterinary Technician is present to continuously monitor your pet and to assist the doctor during the surgery. Prior to surgery, all patients receive a physical examination by the veterinarian.
We recommend optional pre-surgical screening that includes x-rays, blood work, Feluk/FIV and heart-worm testing to allow the veterinarian to further evaluate your pet prior to administering anesthesia. Pre-surgical screening is very important in geriatric or chronically ill pets.
All surgeries, except emergencies, should be scheduled in advance. Surgical patients are admitted between 9 and 10 am and surgeries are performed between 12 and 3 pm. At the time your pets surgery is scheduled, you will be given pre-surgical instructions. Post-surgical instructions will be given when your pet is discharged.
