Our Services & Products

We are a full service clinic for cats and dogs!

Cat and Dog Clinic of Pensacola offers a full range of pet care services including:

Surgeries

Cat and Dog Clinic of Pensacola is a full service surgical facility.  Most surgeries are performed using inhalant gas anesthesia. We use sterile technique and your pet is continuously monitored using EKG and respiratory monitors. A Veterinary Technician is present to continuously monitor your pet and to assist the doctor during the surgery. Prior to surgery, all patients receive a physical examination by the veterinarian.

We recommend optional pre-surgical screening that includes x-rays, blood work, Feluk/FIV and heart-worm testing to allow the veterinarian to further evaluate your pet prior to administering anesthesia. Pre-surgical screening is very important in geriatric or chronically ill pets.

All surgeries, except emergencies, should be scheduled in advance. Surgical patients are admitted between 9 and 10 am and surgeries are performed between 12 and 3 pm. At the time your pets surgery is scheduled, you will be given pre-surgical instructions. Post-surgical instructions will be given when your pet is discharged.

Vaccinations

Routine health maintenance is the key to protecting your pet. We recommend a through yearly examination and health screening, and vaccinations appropriate for your pets life style. Vaccinations are administered in accordance with the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) recommendations.

Vaccinations of cats and dogs against Rabies is required by law in the State of Florida. An Escambia County ordinance also requires a yearly purchase of a County License.

For all cats we also recommend protecting against Panleukopenia, Rhinotracheitis and Calici Virus.  For those cats that are at risk of exposure to feline leukemia, we recommend a yearly feline leukemia booster.

For all dogs, we also recommend protecting against Distemper, Parvo Virus, Hepatitis and Parainfluenza. For dogs at risk for Bordetella, Coronavirus and Leptospirosis, we also recommend protection through vaccinations.

The appropriate vaccinations for your pet can be discussed at the time of your appointment. For the protection of your pets and other clients pets, all patients admitted into the hospital or those who will be staying in our boarding facility must be current on all vaccinations and be free of external parasites.

Heartworm Screening & Treatment

Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease in pets. It is caused by little white worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs and associated blood vessels of affected pets, causing severe lung disease, heart failure and damage to other organs in the body. Heartworm disease affects dogs and cats as well as many other mammal species. In the early stages of the disease, many dogs and cats show few symptoms or no symptoms at all so it’s important to have your pet screened regularly.
